New Tank selected for Armed Forces

The YBAF are to receive a new type of main battle tank.

The selection process for the MBT was fast tracked a few Months ago after some of the CofC member States in our region announced large military contracts.

The new tank will be called the “Striker” by the Army. It is supposedly fitted with latest generation of composite armor, with explosive reactive armor (ERA) panels mounted on the front of the hull and turret. There is also armour plates on the sides and slat armour at the rear of the hull and turret. The main armament of the Striker consists of a 125 mm smoothbore gun. The gun is capable of firing anti-tank guided missiles, as well as standard main gun ammunition, including HEAT and APFSDS rounds.

It is stated that it possesses an electro-optical fire control system, a laser rangefinder, ballistic computer and could fire at both stable and mobile targets in day or nigh.

It is unclear how many will be ordered but the Armour school will begin training immediately with a few examples from the trials unit.
